Getting Here

The Wey is surprisingly accessible. Trains from London reach Guildford in 35 minutes; the navigation connects to the Thames at Weybridge for those arriving by boat.

By train

Three stations sit close to the navigation:

  • Guildford -- the main hub, 35 minutes from London Waterloo, with fast and frequent services. The river is a 10-minute walk downhill.
  • Godalming -- quieter station at the southern end, 40 minutes from Waterloo. The navigation is a short walk from the town centre.
  • Weybridge -- at the northern end where Wey meets Thames, 30 minutes from Waterloo. The confluence is walking distance.

By car

The A3 passes close to Guildford; the M25 is accessible from Weybridge. Parking is available at various points along the navigation--see our parking page for locations and costs.

By bike

National Cycle Network Route 22 follows the Wey for part of its length. The towpath itself provides a traffic-free route between access points.

By boat

The Wey connects to the Thames at Weybridge. Boats arriving from the river system can enter through Thames Lock. From the Basingstoke Canal, there's a connection at Byfleet (though the canal's eastern section has restricted access).
