Elstead
village
Elstead is a charming village south of Godalming, sitting beside the River Wey before it becomes navigable. The village features a medieval five-arched bridge over the Wey, the Woolpack pub, and a pretty village green. While upstream of the navigation, Elstead offers excellent walking along the river and across nearby heathlands including Thursley Common, a National Nature Reserve famous for its wildlife. The village provides a gateway to the wilder, non-navigable upper reaches of the Wey.
